Weight Loss & Obesity Surgery Specialist

Scottsdale Healthcare Bariatric Center specializes in the treatment of obesity through state-of-the-art surgical procedures and highly trained care providers. If you are at least 75-100 pounds overweight (corresponding with a BMI of 35 or higher with co-morbid conditions); you may be a candidate for our nationally recognized weight loss surgery program. The Centers for Disease Control has determined that morbid obesity is the #1 health problem in the United States responsible for 300,000 deaths annually. One in five – or 50 million – Americans are obese while 11 million are morbidly obese. Morbid obesity is defined as a body mass index (BMI) score of 40 or more. Don’t know your BMI? We can help.

Don’t know where to start? Scottsdale Healthcare’s Bariatric program staff is here to help walk you through the entire process, beginning with an informational seminar. We can assist you with checking your insurance benefits and navigating the pathway to surgery. We will educate you every step of the way regarding food choices, exercise techniques and how to avoid pitfalls. You will have all the tools you need to make that life affirming change and remain successful.

Bariatric - Minimally Invasive Procedures

The Scottsdale Healthcare Bariatric Center offers three procedures performed laparoscopically: Gastric Bypass, Sleeve Gastrectomy and Gastric Banding. Dr. Robin Blackstone and the team at Scottsdale Healthcare have developed a comprehensive, evidence-based multidisciplinary program to morbidly obese patients to achieve a safe, sustained weight loss.
